Jalene Makus is a Regional Certified Coach and has been coaching for 17 years. She is a STAR 1 – 5 Assessor, STAR 6 – Gold Skills Assessor and Power Skating trained. Jalene also coaches for the Alix Figure Skating Club, where she has spent most of her coaching years teaching all levels in the CanSkate and StarSkate programs.  

As a StarSkate Test skater Jalene achieved Triple Gold with partial Diamond Dances. She also competed at a national level in Synchronized Skating with the Edmonton Synchronized Skating Club.  

Jalene’s coaching philosophy is to bring her love for skating to rural communities. Teaching skaters in a positive, structured group environment where skaters can gain confidence, life skills, correct and technical skating and most importantly having fun and staying active through sport! I value that as a coach, I must continue to grow and develop my own knowledge to ensure I can provide the best personalized support possible to my skaters. Jalene’s favorite elements to teach is jumps specifically axels and double jumps. 

When Jalene isn’t on the ice you can find her riding her horse, working her day job at Lacombe County and spending quality time with family and friends.​​
